Baby Mine is from the Beaches Soundtrack. It was originally part of Disney's Dumbo. This song is a mother's lullaby to her baby. Disney played the song when Dumbo was finally able to visit his mother after she was imprisoned for attacking the circus patrons and the Circus Headmaster dude. Mrs. Jumbo cannot see her baby but she is able to stretch her trunk out so that baby Dumbo is able to sit on the trunk like a swing and be comforted. While I had heard the song in Dumbo I never really remembered it until I heard it again after watching Beaches. Bette's amazing vocals give this song new life, and it has been the constant lullabye that I have sang to my babies. I hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
Baby Mine - Bette Midler
Baby mine, don't you cry.
Baby mine, dry your eyes.
Rest your head close to my heart,
never to part, baby of mine.
Little one, when you play,
pay no heed what they say.
Let your eyes sparkle and shine,
never a tear, baby of mine.
If they knew all about you,
they'd end up loving you, too.
All those same people who scold you,
what they'd give just for the right to hold you.
From your hair down to your toes,
you're not much, goodness knows.
But, you're so precious to me,
sweet as can be, baby of mine.
